01/20/19: Still settling into my new home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Have some opportunities coming up playing with some other female singer-songwriters in the area. Planning house concerts, booking festivals, and setting up a home recording studio are some things occupying my time and energy at the moment. Stay tuned!
11/04/17: I am excited to announce that I’ve finally finished my second full-length album, “Fall Away.” It’s available on iTunes and bandcamp. Enjoy!
2/11/17: Good friend and talented photographer Michelle Drevlow and I made a music video for a newer song of mine. We originally filmed it as a submission for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, but missed the submission deadline. I wrote the song after my grandfather passed away last summer. The video showcases West Maui’s stunning beauty.
1/26/17: Very excited to be preparing for Ben Verdery’s Maui guitar workshop this July. I’ve taken a bit of a break from playing classical guitar for the past few years and it feels absolutely wonderful to be practicing regularly again. I had forgotten how grounding it is for me. I’m taking Skype lessons with my teacher from college, and we’re working on some new Spanish and South American repertoire. Excited! Here is an audition recording I made for the class this summer:
1/16/16: I am thrilled to share the recently released music video friends James Bassett-Cann and Ian Mason filmed for me while traveling together on the Oregon coast! The song is off my first album, which I recorded with Ben Singer in Greensboro, NC. You’ll hear Kasey Horton on viola and Ben on drums.
12/30/15: Working on finishing up my 2nd full-length album, hope to wrap things up in January before I head off to Maui!
5/10/15: Here is the finished music video project, an artistic collaboration between artist and good friend Jane Hargrave (janemhargrave.com).
3/2/15: Visual artist and good friend Jane Hargrave and I are collaborating on a project that interweaves our artwork in music videos. Jane has been making screen prints and transferring them to fabric, some of which she has dyed using a Japanese technique called Shibori. We’ll hang the artwork to create a video set and film relatively straight-forward music videos that will hopefully be posted in April. Here’s a sample of Jane’s work, also check out her website at janemhargrave.com:
NPR Tiny Desk Contest: Thanks to everyone involved in the making of my video for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest! You can see the video here:
New band members: Really excited to be rehearsing and playing with John Kennedy (better known as JK) and Brady Rees during the past few weeks. John plays a mean upright bass, you can hear him with Tyne and the Fast Lyne as well as Erin Condo and the Hoofties. Brady has been a friend for a while and sweetly serenades on the electric guitar.
Elk Creek Cafe: In January I performed with Eric Ian Farmer, Denise Strayer, Josh Troup, and Eric Burkhart at Elk Creek Cafe in Millheim, PA. It’s one of my favorite places in the area, was really a pleasure and honor to be up on stage there. Here are some photos from that night, videos to come soon!:
